From A Distance - Work In Correspondence
These pieces are the result of a collaboration textile artist Susan Purney Mark. I’ve know Susan for about 10 years now, and we exhibited together in 2018. Early in the pandemic, we started sending work to each other, for the other to finish. It was a way of finding connection during the lockdown. All the collaboration pieces are titled using potential opening lines of letter correspondence.
You’ll see how the collaboration has influenced each of us. In addition to the pieces that we both worked on, there are a few pieces are done individually prior to the collaboration, and others that we did individually during or after the collaboration. All but my pre-collab pieces are on raw canvas, mounted on 3/4” deep wood panels. The face of the panel is dark grey. The panel edges are natural wood.
Check out this Art Biz Success podcast where Susan and I talk about the work, the exhibition and our collaborative process.
These pieces were on exhibition from January 9th, 2023 at TOSH, The Old School House Arts Center, in Qualicum Beach, BC. Please contact me to purchase the artwork.
